I went on a road trip with a friend from North Carolina to the Texas / Mexico border in the height of spring. If I'd just close my eyes and focus for a moment in any of these places that we visited, I would hear the low murmur of wildlife surrounding us. Many of the animals that we heard, we did not see. But, some weren't afraid of humans if we sat still for long enough or crept up on them quietly. Here are some of those critters.
